  1. Computer Usage
    1. The Library offers public Windows computers with access to the Internet, Microsoft Office and printing. We utilize PC management software to give equal access to anyone wishing to use a computer.

      The Youth area offers public Windows computers as well, to those thru Grade 8.

      In keeping with the library's Collection Development Policy, the library has installed software on all computers that attempts to block retrieval of internet sites that could be considered inappropriate/ pornographic. It is important to note that no software can completely block out all objectionable material and parents/legal guardians are encouraged to guide their children in exploring the internet while sharing with them the family's personal views about acceptable use of the internet.       No library card is needed to use public computers.

      Note: Our public use computers are available from opening until 10 minutes before closing.

  2. Wireless Access
    1. The Library offers public access WiFi. Wireless access is available through out the Library and in the West parking lot.

      When connecting to our WiFi, choose the rmlib wireless network.

      No library card or password are needed to use our Wireless connection.

  3. Ethernet Station Access
    1. The Library offers three ethernet plug-in access stations, they are located in the Reference area.

      If you need to print, please use our wireless printing services.

  4. Printing & Copying
    1. The Reference Walk-up computer area offers printers & copiers.
      We are unable to print labels, on cardstock, or on transparencies.
      Our copiers are able to print double-sided. For black and white copies, you can copy letter, legal, or ledger size documents.

        Printing Fees:
        • Black and white pages = $0.10/page
        • Color pages = $0.25/page


        Copying Fees:
        • Black and white pages = $0.10/page ($0.10/side if printing double-sided)
        • Black and white pages on ledger= $0.20/page ($0.20/side if printing double-sided ledger)
        • Color pages = $0.25/page ($0.25/side if printing double-sided)


      Pay with cash only.

  5. Wireless Printing
    1. There are three ways to print wirelessly:





      Printing airline tickets can be tricky, see the Reference Desk for assistance.

      Pay with cash only. Wireless print jobs are only held in the print system for 2 hours.

      Note: Our wireless printing services are available from opening until 30 minutes before closing.

  6. Scanning
    1. In the Reference Walk-up computer area we have 2 flatbed / document feeder scanners attached to patron PC stations. These are first come first serve scanners.

      For documents over 5 pages, we suggest going to the Reference Desk and using the heavy-duty scanner.

      Please plan to save files to a USB drive or send them to yourself in an email. We are unable to email documents to you.

      All scanning is free.

      Note: Our scanning services are available from opening until 15 minutes before closing.

  7. Faxing
    1. The library provides faxing services for public use at the Reference Desk.
      We do not accept incoming faxes. Fax anywhere in the United States.

      Faxes cost $0.10/page.

      Pay with cash only.

  8. Small Group Meeting Rooms
    1. The Rolling Meadows Library has two small group meeting rooms available for patron use during library hours. The small group meeting rooms are covered by policies listed in the Rolling Meadows Library Public Conduct Policy.

      Each meeting room offers a large screen TV with VGA and HDMI inputs. Each room also has a dedicated Windows PC already attached to the large screen with webcam, microphone and wireless keyboard/mouse ready for patron use.

      Rules Of Use:
    2. 1. Patrons high school age and older may use the small group meeting rooms with a valid Rolling Meadows Library Card, high school or college identification card, driver's license, or state identification card.
    3. 2. Patrons wishing to use a small group meeting room must check in at the Reference Desk.
    4. 3. Small group meeting rooms are available in two-hour sessions, not to exceed two hours per day; however, requests for additional time in the room will be accommodated if there is no immediate request/reservation for use of the room. If additional time is granted beyond the two-hour limit, those individuals/groups granted additional time will be asked to vacate the room if another party arrives and wishes to use the room.
    5. 4. Small group meeting room #1 may be reserved up to 48 hours in advance by email, phone, or in-person at the Reference Desk. Small group meeting room #2 is not available for reservations.
    6. 5. Reservations cannot exceed two hours per day, two reservations per week.
    7. 6. Reservations will be held for 10 minutes from the scheduled start time, after which, the entire reserved time will be forfeited and the room returned to available status.
    8. 7. Covered drinks are permitted in the small group meeting rooms in accordance with the Rolling Meadows Library Public Conduct Policy; however, food items are not.
    9. 8. No additional furniture may be brought in or removed from the small group meeting room without approval from library staff.
    10. 9. Patrons must provide their own equipment and supplies used in the room.
    11. 10. The seating capacity of 10 people in each small group meeting room is a fire code requirement and will be enforced.
    12. 11. A small group meeting room may not be left unattended. Once a room has been vacated for more than 10 minutes, Library staff reserves the right to remove a user's belongings without assuming responsibility or liability and reassign the room to available status. The Library is not responsible for possessions left in a room.
    13. 12. Patrons are responsible for any damage to library equipment in the room.
