Rolling Meadows Library launches New Shared Catalog in October 2026

What is Scholastic Teachables?

Through the shared CCS catalog, Rolling Meadows Library cardholders will be able to search, request, and receive materials from any member library directly within the familiar Rolling Meadows system. Requests will automatically be filled by the first available copy within the network, reducing wait times for popular titles and expanding choices without requiring additional item purchases or interlibrary loan requests.

  • Dramatically Expanded Access: More than 5 million physical items available through one catalog.
  • Shorter Wait Times: Holds filled by the most readily available copy across 34 libraries.
  • Seamless Borrowing: Easy use of a Rolling Meadows Library card at other CCS libraries.
  • Modern Catalog Experience: Improved search tools, account features, and notifications.
  • Efficient Use of Tax Dollars: Shared system costs maximize resources while controlling expenses.

Rolling Meadows Library received a $53,050 Cataloging Membership Grant from Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS) to support startup and migration costs. The grant significantly reduces financial barriers to joining the consortium and allows the library to move forward without increasing costs to the community.

Migration work, staff training, and data preparation are underway throughout 2026 in advance of the October go-live date.
