Search the catalog for the item with want to place a hold on.
Select “Place Hold” located in the lower right of the item tab.
Notice below the “Place Hold” button you see how many holds are currently on the item and how many copies the library owns.
Log in to your record, if you are not already.
A window will pop up asking for a pickup location. Select “Confirm Location”.
A window will pop up saying Request successful. Select “OK”
You will be notified as soon as your hold is ready to be picked up. Want to receive notification by email?Add your email to your account.
View and Cancel Your Holds
While logged in to your account, click on “My Bookshelf”. Select the “Holds” tab to view your current holds
The place in line number shows you how many people are in line before you while waiting for an item.
The pick up location shows if your item is a physical copy that will be ready for pick up at the Rolling Meadows Library or an online borrow.
Cancel Holds
To cancel a hold select “Cancel Hold” for the item you no longer want.
A window will pop up asking you to confirm. Click on “Cancel Hold”.
Your hold will no longer appear on the "Holds" tab.
Freeze & Unfreeze Your Holds
If you place a hold on an item, but you want to wait to pick it up, you can freeze the hold to keep your place in the hold queue. When you are ready to pick up the item, you can unfreeze the hold and pick up the item when it becomes available.
While logged in to your account, click on “My Bookshelf”
Select the “Holds” tab
Select the down arrow next to the “Cancel Hold” button and select “Freeze”
You will see a green “✓ Frozen successfully” under the “Cancel Hold” button
To unfreeze your account, Select the down arrow next to the “Cancel Hold” button and select “Unfreeze”
You will see a green “✓ Unfrozen successfully” under the “Cancel Hold” button
