Grow your garden with our Seed Library. Stop by Reference Service to check out our Seed Library. Seed packets do not have to be checked out and do not require a library card to take.
How it works
- Choose a seed packet (each packet has between 3-12 seeds).
- Seeds are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
- You are invited to take up to 10 seed packets per season.
- Check out our gardening books and resources.
- Take them home and start your gardening journey.
Seed packets will provide information for planting including plant name, required planting weather, required sunlight, planting depth, and days to harvest.

Find the Seed Library on the Main Level in the Reference Department.
Please note: The Rolling Meadows Library is not resopnsible for the growth of seeds obtained from the Seed Library. Germination is not guaranteed.

Seed Donations
The library accepts seed donations with a completed Seed Donation Form. Donated seed will be added to the collection at the descretion of library staff. You can find a Seed Donation Form on the Seed Library shelves OR print, fill out, and return a form. PDF File.
Seed Saving Tips
- Select seeds from your best plants.
- Only harvest seed from your garden or with permission from the owner.
- Store seeds in a cool, dry, and dark place.
